I don’t know for how many years I’ve been in love with hummus… it feels like forever. I might even be addicted… I remember the first time I made hummus myself. It was a Jamie Oliver recipe. He didn’t use any water so at the beginning I would add tons of olive oil until I reached the perfect consistency. By now I’ve experimented a lot and I finally found my own favorite way to prepare this amazing dish.

  • 400 g chickpeas
  • 1 tbsp tahini
  • 1 clove of garlic minced
  • 1/2 lemon squeezed
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp canola oil
  • 3 tbsp olive oil extra virgin
  • 2-3 tbsp tapwater
  • some sea salt to taste


  1. Add all the ingredients into a food processor.

  2. Mix it through until you get a smooth paste.

  3. Add salt to taste.

  4. If you like your hummus thicker, don't add too much water. If you're like me and you like it creamy, go ahead 😉

Recipe Notes

You can add some paprika and cumin powder before serving your hummus. I love this as a snack, with some raw carrot, peppers or cucumber sticks or as a side to any salad.
